I Am Going to Die Alone

i have bad social phobia and push the guys i have crushes on away.I want to stop this because i have never had a boyfriend {24!!!}.I think i;m going to die alone..Help what can i do…

Well, first of all, I think it would be prudent to figure out where your social phobia stems from. I feel like you need to nip that in the bud first. The most important part of being in a successful relationship is loving yourself. If you don’t love you and give yourself the things you need, how can someone else? It’s hard to tell someone what you need when you don’t know yourself. Another important part of being in a relationship is the ability to communicate your feelings. Having social phobias can cripple this process.

I completely understand that saying, “Oh, just get over your phobia,” is completely unhelpful. I have never had a social phobia, so I am not the best suited to help you solve your problems, but I have been in relationships with a few people who do have social phobias. The most helpful thing I was able to do for them was to force them to meet new people. It was terrifying for them at first, and they were completely uncomfortable doing this, but after a while, they were more comfortable doing this. Maybe you can join a new club or group to help you socialize. If you feel as though you are going to be unable to help yourself, I would suggest finding a therapist who specializes in social behavior. I know that this can be completely unnerving (I was never comfortable in therapy myself), it works for many, many people, and it could work for you, too.

I know your blog is tongue-in-cheek, but if you ever doubt for a second that
there isn’t someone in the world who will appreciate what a remarkable person you are, you are wrong. You are beautiful, and the fact that more handsome young suitors aren’t screaming this from the rooftops truly astounds me.

Awww, thank you so much!  Yeah, it’s mostly tongue-in-cheek, but sometimes there’s a bit of truth in it.  I mean, with all the crazy weird habits/mannerisms/hobbies I have plus the fact that there are also some other socially awkward/weird people, I don’t know how ANYBODY ever finds anybody else!  Haha.  But thank you for your kind words.  I really appreciate them!  :)
